The OPEN MY EYES Scripture Writing plan has been such a wonderful way for me to study God’s Word. I am receiving testimonials each week from women and families using the plans to dig deeper into The Word.
Scripture Writing is the simple study of hand copying Scripture word for word into a notebook or journal. When I simply read the Scriptures, my mind wanders. I begin thinking about my daily chores or a myriad of other things.
With Scripture writing, I am so focused on each word I am writing. I am focused on keeping my journal neat and artistic as I journal God's Word. It gives me ten to fifteen minutes of uninterrupted Bible Study where The Lord can speak to my heart.
Now, I am not a Bible Journaling Artist. I wrote about my lack of artistic ability in a recent post. My purpose in OPEN MY EYES is not to mimic the gorgeous art I see on Pinterest, because that isn’t my gift. That is the gift of those beautiful women creating beautiful artistic work in their Bibles.
My purpose with OPEN MY EYES is to draw closer to Jesus in new and fresh ways. To make my pages as pretty as I can by using my INSPIRE BIBLE. It has beautiful illustrations that you can color, space to jot down what God is showing you, and the NLT translation which is an easy-to-understand translation.
The Inspire Bible, a composition notebook, and some beautiful colored pencils are all I use for this plan. I keep things as simple as possible so I can focus on The Lord speaking.
I love centering our writing on a theme. Last month, our theme was Peace.
This month, our theme is on STRENGTH and COURAGE.
In my prayer time the past month, the thought of having diving strength, being brave and courageous kept coming up. I know The Lord was speaking to me about this month's theme for OPEN MY EYES.
It is September.
The kids are going back to school. Schedules are back in full force causing us to become a little more disciplined than we have been during the summer months. Teachers are planning lessons for students they have never met. Homeschool moms, like myself, are getting ready to teach a new year of material to their children. It is a time to be strong and courageous as we face the new school year ahead with whatever challenges it may bring.
Strength: the quality that allows someone to deal with problems in a determined and effective way
Courage: strength in the face of pain or grief.
Every single day we are called upon to be strong and courageous.
And some days, it is hard to get up and be strong and courageous. Some days, you just want to stay in bed and not face the world.
Some days, you just don’t want to be the hero.
But the good news is that we don’t have to walk through this life in our strength - which is fleeting. The Lord has given us HIS strength and commands us to be courageous because He is guiding every path and every step. The Scriptures give us the life we need to BE STRONG; to BE COURAGEOUS in all of our life situations.
I am so excited to dig into The Word as we take steps to becoming STRONG and COURAGEOUS.
I would love to hear the exciting new things God is speaking to you through this study in the comments below. Has being strong and courageous been a challenge for you in the past? Which Scripture has really changed the way you see yourself in terms of being strong?
